WAP
- (Wireless Application Protocol)
- A global open standard for communication between mobile handsets, the
Internet and other computer applications. WAP-based technology enables
the design of advanced, interactive and real-time mobile
services, such as mobile banking and Internet-based news services. The
WAP
Forum has consolidated into the Open Mobile Alliance (OMA) and no
longer exists as an independent organization. The specification work
from WAP continues within OMA and can be found on the OMA web site at: www.openmobilealliance.org.
