Throughput - (Data Transfer Rate) - The amount of specific data transferable over a network connection.  It's measured in characters per second.

Data Transfer Rate - The speed that data is transferred from one device to another device(s). Often it's measured in kilobytes (1,024 bytes), or megabytes (million bytes, Mbps). Each of these measurements are per second.
