Synchronous Enhancements (ATVEF)
– Synchronous Enhancements
are interactive TV
enhancements sent during specific and designated times while the TV
program is physically being presented. These enhancements are designed
to have an impact on viewers at those specific points of the show.
These enhancements, often called triggers,
might be embedded in the viewer’s video stream but when activated will
take the viewer somewhere over the Internet or on a closed network as
is the case with walled gardens
and IPTV. Put
differently these triggers in
the video stream, (such as icons and text links,) are for the viewers
to click on, or otherwise activate, so they then can go to content
located someplace else, or on some other medium.
