RISC
- (Pronounced "risk") - (Reduced
Instruction Set Computer) - A Reduced
Instruction Set Computer is a type of
microprocessor that
recognizes
only a limited number of instructions. It's the opposite of
the
standard PC which is CISC
(Complex Instruction Set Computer).
RISC
computers can execute their instructions very fast because the
instructions are so simple. Also RISC chips as easier to make (as they
require fewer transistors.) There are set-top
boxes and other interactive
TV
related hardware that use RISCs. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RISC
