(Regional Bell Operating Companies) - This term designates the seven
Regional Bell Operating Companies spun off from AT&T in 1984.
The
initial seven were Ameritech, BellSouth, Bell Atlantic, Nynex,
Southwestern Bell, Pacific Telesis and US West.
