Light Peak - Intel's Light Peak technology is a high-speed fiber-optic connector designed for mainstream electronic devices. It delivers 10Gbps of bandwidth which is enough to deliver uncompressed high-definition video or transport a Blu-ray movie in 30 seconds. It is expected to reach speeds of 100Gbps in the future.

Light Peak was developed to be a single universal replacement for buses such as SCSI, SATA, USB, FireWire, and HDMI. In comparison to these buses, Light Peak is much faster, longer ranged, smaller, and more flexible in terms of protocol support.
