Liberate
-
Oracle wanted to compete with the personal computer by using network
computers. Unfortunately for the network computer scenario, PCs kept
coming down in price, and in a spectacular manner. Oracle gave up and
oriented its network computer technology primarily to set top box
use,
calling the corporation Liberate
Technologies.
It focused its business on set-top box software for interactive
television. Liberate technologies was a major interactive TV
player.
Liberate's North American assets were sold to Double
C Technologies, a Joint Venture of Comcast and Cox. https://informitv.com/resources/glossary/liberate
