Layered
Embedded Encoding – Layered
Embedded Encoding can occur when compressing data
in layers in a manner where successive layers provide more information.
In this
scenario, a single stream of data might supply a range of compression,
and in terms of video, a range of video resolution and picture quality.
This is particularly useful for multicast
where a single stream is
sent out and people are connecting using different bandwidths.
