Interactive TV Platform) - A platform describes some sort of
framework, either in hardware or software, which allows software to
run." (Wikipedia.)

"standard" or "specification," sometimes even "middleware".
In regard to its use with television, an Internet-oriented Interactive Television Platform utilized the Internet for part or all of its delivery and return path. It can take advantage of the Internet's constant hardware/software technology upgrades. It may or may not be web-based. An Internet-oriented Interactive Platform is more likely to be based on open standards due in part to the cross-platform nature of the Internet. Interactive Television Platform |
