Entitlement Control Messages - (ECMs) - Entitlement Control Messages is data (which is probably encrypted,) that travel to and from the subscriber and network operator. These messages contain information and directions from the subscriber such as the movie they want to see.  This private conditional access information helps maintain the ordered authorization process and might be used in devices such as set-top boxes.
